I’ve always been attracted to anything antique, and ever since I could remember I’ve always wanted a round genuinely antique compact mirror or at the very least something vintage looking. I want it to be silver, and I want my initials in fancy letters engraved on it or a  detailed floral embedded design. I asked for a quote at Ongpin and finding out that it would cost me 8-10k to have one custom made pretty much shattered my dreams.

img_1956

Anyways there’s this booth at SM Mega Mall, i forgot which building but I remember its on the Upper Ground floor, that sells Chinese combs and mirrors. Their combs, as advertized, prevents splint ends (yeah right!) and they’re a bit pricey for combs. What interested me the most though were the mirrors. I’ve been by the booth to look every now and then whenever I visit and the mirrors cost between Php1,000-Php1,500.

img_1950

I never found the urge to buy one until my latest visit where I found them on sale. Bought this for Php600.00. The owner was trying to sell it to me for Php700 but I had him knock of an extra hundred because the magnet that keeps the mirror closed was broken but I fixed the magnet issue when I got home with a tube of epoxy clay. I also bought another one, in a much simpler design than the one shown above, which I’m trying to figure out who to give it away to. If I don’t figure it out soon I’ll probably give it away on this blog.

This mirror can never compare to the picture of the one I have in my head but it sure is a hell of a great substitute till I’m rich enough to not choke at the thought of spending 10 grand on a mirror.

The  day after I bought the Lonsdale jacket was my day off, since it was a friday I thought to go to MOA early to take advantage of the jePun Pali’s Morning Bliss promotion and get myself another message then go to the gym afterwards since Fitness First has a branch there. Against my better judgement I went back to Lonsdaleinstead where they’re having a close out sale. I originally didn’t buy this duffle bag because I already the one I told you about on my previous post, but I like the luxury of having options so I went ahead and purchased this one too.

img_1917 img_1918

The handles have enough drop to allow you to hang it over your shoulders, but if you need more room the bag comes with a detachable shoulder sling strap. The obvious two front pockets, a zip compartment on the inside, and whole lotta room should keep all my things organized.

I  took a picture of it with my adorable 2 year old niece so you’d have a point of comparison for the size. This bag is just a tad bit larger than the Nike duffle bag I purchased earlier. The only complain about it is that the synthetic leather material used on the upper half of the bag have natural wearing. You know how leather is when it gets too dry and you can almost peel it off. .. We’ll it’s the same case here except that it’s part of this Lonsdale duffle bag’s design. So I can imagine that with frequent use this aspect of the bag’s feature may start to become a problem. Also the tag says to not overload the bag, it can apparently only take 2kgs so even though it has room for a lot it’s not exactly a heavy duty duffle bag.

Scenario:

You’re at a bank where the teller asks for some identification. 5 minutes of  holding up the line and digging through all the crap you manage to fit into your purse you finally find your wallet where you stashed your ID in.. at last!

After an hour long cab drive you finally reach your destination. Being the person you are, you wait till the last minute to bring out the cash to pay the cab driver. The meter reads 129, and knowing that the cab driver isn’t going to give you your change if you give him 150, you look for some change. So again, you dig through your purse looking for the change you threw into your purse a moment ago amongst the candy wrappers and receipts you’ve collected from several months back… this ultimately adds another 2.50 to the meter from all the waiting.

 img_1959 img_1961

People who like big bags probably know what I’m talking about. I frequently have this problem. I’ve had to go back home several times before thinking I left my cell phone only to find out that it was buried in my purse. I found a solution for that as you can seen in the pictures above.

I use to think that clear or see through cosmetic bags were tacky but I’ve recently come to appreciate them in a whole new level. Instead of dumping all my belongings in my purse I have two separate cosmetic bags that have kept my belongings organized.

I keep a smaller pouch for all my make up and vanity needs and another bigger clear pouch for pens, keys, ID, coin purse, card holder etc… Gone are the days of digging, if I need something from my bag I bring out the pouch and I can already see what I’m looking for.

Get organized people, these pouches are less that Php200 a piece, the larger bag can be bought at any SM department store and smaller one at Watsons.

I recently enrolled for membership at Fitness First. Initially it was because because I truly wanted a change in lifestyle, but lately it’s looking like it was a nonverbal go-ahead to splurge on gym gear.

After a quick and expensive visit at Zoo York I crossed over to check out Nike. I really truely only wanted to look but when this cute duffle bag crossed my path I suddenly realized I had nothing to put my gym gear in.

img_1911

I paid for the thing immediately, didn’t even bother looking at anything else or anywhere else. It’s just the perfect size, large enough to fit everything I need for the gym -but small enough to not look like you’re stowing away or something.

Duffle bag by Nike

And of course, the design- still feminine but not too girly.. my cup of tea. Wallet damage was Php2800.00 but it’s being put to good use and the quality makes it all worth while.

Funky grafiti like design

Being infamously known for retailing boards and “skater boy” apparel and all the gear that goes along with the fad/sport, there was never really a reason for me to take notice of the Zoo York brand. That is until I saw the  Zoo York shoes that my brother got for his girlfriend as a bon voyage gift, that got me interested enough.

A Zoo York store sat right beside TeamManila’s store at the Mall of Asia, so after rummaging through TeamManila’s closet I went next door to check out Zoo York’s. Though the clothing line failed to tickle my fancy, their sneakers made up for it’s lack of impression. Or maybe I was too taken with the shoes and therefore failed to admire the clothes. I’d have to go back one of these days so I can take a closer look at the clothing line.

 img_1811  img_1813

Long story short, I went home with these Zoo York babies. I admit that the style is a bit too juvenile for the look that I usually go for. they’re the type of shoes you’d more likely see on a teener’s feet than that of a twenty something femme but like I said I’m a big fan of the fashion for the laid back and laxed.

Zoo York was established in 1993, a fashion that brings to the present the old skool graffiti style of the historical New York City grafiti art at the Zoo york Tunnel.

My brother who lives in the states has a thing for Pinoyt-shirts. We started out by buying him t-shirts at Spoof  Limited  and chose the ones with a Pinoy oriented design. We’d then send it to him every time someone comes home and that went on for a couple years.

Conversation with kuya sitting in front of my computer:

US: “Hey can you go to this website, I found some really cool looking shirts.. it’s teammanilalifestyle dot com.”

img_1779

PH: “OK I’m here..”

US: “Go to the men’s section and then classic tees. A Lotof people are asking me where I get my t-shirts from specially here on campus..”

PH: interrupts “They probably wanna buy some too, I’m on the page. What am I looking for?”

US: “Yeah, I don’t see too many sold on eBay and a lotof people are looking so I want  a T-shirt in each of the designs on page 1-4 then get me some stickers and key chains and lanyards too.”

Ph: in utter shock and disbelief of the impending wreckage he was about to do to my savings “Uhh that’s a lot, don’t you think that too many? How much is it gonna cost me? Andame naman kuya!”

US: “I says Php500. They have an online store at teammanila.com forward slash shop but it costs more andyou have to pay for shipping”

PH: “Hmmmnn let me see if I can get some sort of discount and I’ll let you know…”

Days and weeks pass… several phone calls, PM’s, and SMS’ later I finally found time to research, email TeamManila’s management about my predicament, and visit their store at the Power Plant Mall to check out the goods. I was already impressed when I saw the designs on line but to see them in person was like tempting a child with candy. I went home with the t-shirt shown above for myself.

I checked my email when I got home and was very pleased to find a positive response from TeamManila’s Sales and MarketingManager, Pam. They were willing to give me 15% off on all the shirts I buy.

Pretty soon I came out of the store with fifteen some t shirts for my brother and a couple others for myself. I wasn’t actually able to buy all of the t-shirts that were requested. Most of the the designs were out on XXL sizes -my brother’s a pretty big dude. The t-shirts are limited edition so when they’re out of stock, they won’t make ‘em again which is too bad ‘cuz these shirts are really happening.

img_1844

They had an ongoing promotion at the time which qualified me to get this bag for free. Wasn’t sure what how much you need to spend to get one but I got it…

I’d just like to thank TeamManila, specially Pam for responding to me and for givingme a great bargain on their goods. Kudos to you folks for coming up with such artistic and inspiringdesigns that show the world the heart of a true Filipino. With all the unending corruption and problems we have going on this kinda thing makes me proud to be a Filipino.

Lonsdale at SM Mall of Asia is having a close out sale until May 20, 2009.

img_1934

I only found out about the sale from a friend whom I complimented because he had this really rad Lonsdale jacket on. When I found out they were selling their jackets for Php1,300.00 from the original price of Php3,300.00, I knew that the downpour we’ve been experiencing the past few days wouldn’t and couldn’t stop me from going.

I get off work at 6pm and despite not having an umbrella and the horrid traffic I made my way to to MOA to take a look at what they had left. I got really excited to see that everything they had was at 60% off.  Duffle bags were going for Php1,000.00, messenger bags for Php600.00, sock for Php150.00 (2 pairs) and the jackets.

img_1931    img_1932

I treated myself to this really purty blue-greenish jacket, it has silver trimmings and funky logo at the back. I also bought the same jacket I saw on my which I unfortunately forgot to take a picture off before I gave it away. Since I’ve started going to the gym recently I also bought myself gym capri pants.

Aside from the sportswear they also have their boxing gears, pants, blouses and tees, shorts, sweat pants, and him & her undies.

So head on over to Lonsdale Mall Of Asia to catch the sale while they’re still there. Lonsdale sits beside the adidas store.

I went to the mall almost a 2 weeks ago to pay my Internet bill and left with just enough money to get me home and these mad Von Dutch sneaks! This was an impulsive purchase that cost me a little under Php3,000.

img_1777

I have to say, it was this cute little wrench that did me in. If I hadn’t seen it I could have probably stopped myself from making such an impulsive buy. But it was well worth it. I usually got for plain white sneakers because I figure they are easier to match with anything  so this is my first multi-colored sneakers in a long long… long time,  since high school actually and I’m almost 4 years out of college. Point being -it’s been a while.

img_1769

Red and it’s darker variation, Maroon, is my fave color but never on clothes. I’ve always thought that my skin tone isn’t suited for the color. But it made such a great contrast on this Von Dutch shoes and the fact that I took a second glace, which I’ve never done to non-white sneakers ever since I was old enough to pick my own shoes, meant that It had to go home with me.

… And home it did go. I’m not the cheeky, pink, catwalk fashionista type of person. All I know is I love make up and fashion specially for the casual, the laid back and the relaxed. Faded jeans and graphic tees? I’m all about them.

I chanced upon Je Pun Pali Spa while roaming the infinite grounds of the Mall of Asia before I went on week long vacation. With my new found interest in spas, I took notice of the establishment. I went inside to ask for a list of their services and prices and found the most exciting thing someone like me could ever find…

tea

Hot Tea Anyone?

Je Pun Pali Spa has a Morning Bliss promotion where ALL services are 50% OFF every Mondays-Fridays 10am-1pm until June 20, 2009.  It was unfortunately a Saturday when I was there so I made sure to come back on a weekday to try them out. I made reservations on a Monday night and was back the next morning.

img_1846

Je Puna Pali spa at the Mall Of Asia, out of all the spas I’ve been to, is the most considerate in terms of customer’s privacy. Unlike the other spas I’ve been to where the massage room is  communal, at Je Pun Pali you can unwind, relax, and enjoy your massage behind the closed doors  of your own room. The only thing I disliked is the fact that you are limited to only 15 minutes in the sauna.

Picture taking is strictly prohibited so I literally took stolen shots when I was left alone.

I had an errand to run so I only had time for an uncomplicated treatment. I went with the Balinese massage, it was the most expensive traditional therapy on the list and since its 50% off.. what the heck right?! hahaha. All I can say is that it was a very luxurious experience. The oil used on me had a hint of rose scent and was heated with a candle, kinda like what you do with aroma therapy oils, before it was applied.

This is the chair where I had my pedicure after my massage. I’ve never had a pedicure sitting on a lazyboy before but I’m sure it’’s something I can get used to.

Chairs are separated with curtains for added privacy.

The total wallet damage for my massage and pedicure? Only Php540.00!
