milkmaids

The last on the list of hot hairstyle trend for this year is the milkmaid braids. This is relatively another style that’s easy to accomplish (there are several video tutorials on YouTube).

milkmaid-braids

You can have it messy just like this Olson twin’s hair. I’ve always liked a disheveled yet elegant look.

braidsandbun

Or you can have fun with it and roll a nice little bun at the back of your head. Wearing the your hair down in waves work beautifully too.

The basic of this hairdo? Braid a patch on each side of temples, pull them up across you head and then fasten the ends with pins behind your ear; Repeat for the other side. What you do with the rest of the hair is only limited by your imagination.

If  you’re goin’ for the classic milkmaid braid, the same rules apply except you have to part your hair in 2, tie them up in a pig tail and braid…  Need more be said?

The elegant hairstyle of the 1940’s are back. Women in those time really did a superb job in keeping themselves looking beautiful despite the war so it’s no wonder that this has become a sought after look. So the question I had before when trying to recreate this look is how do you make waves instead of curls?

The similarity amongst the different 1940’s hairstyles is the side-part. So before putting the iron to hair make sure you have you’ve got your side parted. They key to get waves instead of curls is to use a large barreled curling iron. You always want to start with clean conditioned hair when creating this look, actually you’d want that for any kind of hairstyle.

After parting curl hair from underneath. Take a section of hair and and apply a wide barrel curling iron vertically starting from roots to ends, spirally. The longer your hair is on the iron the tighter it becomes. After curling apply moderate amount of hairspray, don’t overdo it though you don’t want to make it look crispy.

The 1940’s wave can be achieve with rollers. Start off with dry hair and apply styling cream like Frederic Fekkai Luscious Curls Cream, work from roots to tips. Use small rollers for the hair on the sides and bigger ones for the rest of your hair. Allow it to set for about 10 minutes. After removing the curlers pin the sides and brush through hair using a vented brush then smooth over using your fingers to set the waves in place. After that apply moderate amount of hairspray again making sure to keep it looking soft and not crispy. You may then remove the pin or replace with something fancier.

sleekandstraight

Another hit hair style for 2009 is the sleek and straight look. I guess that sentence in itself is self explanatory.Frederic Fekkai Travel Faves Must Have Gloss Set

Rub a small amount of glossing cream in your palms and apply to hair before blow drying. You can use a something like Frederic Fekkai’s glossing Cream. This glossing agent provides lasting shine with out the weighed down feel. This glossing agent also manages frizz and fly-aways for an all day polished look -this should take care of the sleek part of the look. This is also availabale in a must have gloss set that includes glossing shampoo, clossing conditioner, the glossing cream, and sher hold hairspray, really a great value if you ask me.

If you prefer you can straighten you hair with a flat iorn. Something similar to Metropolis Technology S-Nano Ionic Digital Wet/Dry Flat Iron 1 can be used. I love this little thing because it’s safe to use even on wet hair, you don’t have to worry about burning those strands. Make sure that the glossing cream is applied after you finish iorning.

kate-beckinsale-long-hair-style-2009

First up we have the Long and Flowing hair that have been spotted on runway models fashioning 2009’s spring and summer trends.

If you have hair that go past your shoulders then you’ve already taken care of the LONG part. Now as for FLOWING, well that’s another easy detail that takes care of itself. The only key component to this look is VOLUME.

long_flowing_hair

Make sure to wash your hair to get rid of the natural oil that can make it look weighed down and shiny, this won’t help you achieve the look. Blow dry hair with a standard brush and after drying apply volumizing mousse like the one shown below.

Alterna Caviar Anti Aging Mousse

Run it through the blower once more after applying the mousse. The great thing about the Alterna Caviar Anti Aging Mousse is  it helps with aging caused by chemical and environmental factors. It gives you a weightless hold that sustains your look all through out the day. After application shake out your hair for a semi-tousled look.. and presto! You got yourself LONG FLOWING hair,  part of the hair style trend for 2009! You can and waves to the ends for more texture… no curls, just waves.

bob

The Bob

We saw women’s hair get shorter and shorter in 2008 with hair cut trends for women leaning towards short. We have the standard bob, pixie crops, and cropped bobs. People who cut their hair short and wanted a change only had two obvious choices; cut it shorter or grow it out.

               Pixie Crop                                 Cropped Bob

Though bobs and all variations in between are still a trend, this style is slowly but surely transitioning into “so last year” category. Mainly because shorter variations of the bob won’t look good on everyone. So if you went the other way and allowed your hair to grow out, I have good news for you! You’ll be one of the those who’ll be able to maximize 2009’s hairstyle trend.

A set of L’oreal Elseve anti-breakage hair care routine

I take shortcuts through malls when I commute home from work. Since I’m already there, it pretty much gives me a good excuse to rummage through great holiday bargains.

Long story short I walked past Watson’s and saw a great offer on L’oreal’s Elseve Anti-Breakage conditioner and mask. I thought to myself, “What the heck! I already bought the shampoo and serum a couple days ago, why not have the whole shabang.”

The conditioner was priced at Php175.00 and the mask at Php365.00 so I saved me Php135.00. I bought the Shampoo and serum together on a bargained price too, I just can’t recall how much I saved because I didn’t bother to check how much the serum costs, the shampoo though is priced at Php165.00.

My main intent was to find a cure that would relieve me of my dry, damaged, brittle ends (didn’t mean to sound like a commercial there). I’ve tried the highly and locally advertised brands and they do give the same soft tamed feel for my tresses but with L’oreal’s Elsive anti-breakage hair care routine it’s minus the oily weighed down feel.

I’ve only been using it a couple of days and I already see noticeable improvements. I realize that it may be on the expensive side for hair care product but I have no regrets. I plan plan to try out the array of Elseve hair care regimens after I’m finished with the lot of anti-breakage, after all a woman’s crowning glory is her hair.

Instructions:

1. Cleans with Shampoo (squeeze out water from hair)
2. Repair by applying mask (generous amount, leave for at least 2min)
3. Coat with conditioner (also advisable to leave for several minutes)
4. Protect with leave-on serum (After hair is towel dried)
